Short update as we open November. What has happened since then?
- I hired my first ’employee’, my friend James from college. He will be the main content creator.
- I brought on a SEO apprentice to help manage and run our projects. My goal is to teach her everything I know about SEO and get her in a paid position in 2020.
- We wrote 1 pillar piece for our main site in the tech niche. And 1 review article for a secondary site.
- I enrolled in Authority Hacker Pro to stay on top of SEO and how to build an authority site.
- We created systems and writing processes to scale
From above, I realized that the other niche we are working on is too small. So moving forward, we will focus on only 1 niche (tech site). I have another niche in mind to create a website for, but will only focus on that once we have 15 articles for the main site.
Regarding our previous income report and process-based goal (publish 15 articles), I realized the last few weeks that it will take until February to determine if what we’re doing is working. With our current pace of 5/articles per month, we will reach our goal of 15 articles by then. Partly being impatient and partly want to get feedback faster, I decided to try a content service provider to help scale out the content.
So for November, we will outsource a few pieces of content in order to achieve our 15 article goal. I’ve identified a few sources for this and will go with one of them this month:
- HPD – for review, best of articles
- Wordagents – for similar
- SEOContentHero – for similar
- Guy I met on FB – for KGR (keyword golden ratio) optimized articles
Also, in addition to content I’ve narrowed down ~5 auction domains to build our main site on. We will most likely buy the domain and build the site later this month or in December.
Total invested so far: $575 for content
Total income: $0
Stay tuned for the next update in 2-4 weeks.
P.s. I’ll be in Chiang Mai, Thailand for a SEO conference. Hit me up if you’re attending as well! https://chiangmaiseoconference.com/
